As our summer transitions to fall, we often see an outbreak of Large patch disease in Centipede, St. Augustine, and Zoysia lawns in our area. This is a soil disease, that can become active during the cool, moist conditions in fall.
The disease favors low-lying areas, sections of lawns with poor drainage, and lawns that may be over-irrigated. Large Patch has the potential to remain active and cause serious, irreversible lawn damage based on future weather conditions.
